Mark Lovett began playing guitar and singing professionally at the age of 14, but his drawing and painting passion did not take root until his early forties. Born in Maryland and living in a suburb outside of Washington, DC, Lovett was overcome by a passion to create visual art. Lovett abandoned his previous business pursuits and threw himself full time into his art.
After a long journey mastering the methods and techniques of the old masters in portraiture and figurative works, as well as impromptu "alla prima" and "plein air" study, Lovett has finally come into his own. Lovett now successfully merges the techniques of academic masters of the past with his own new and modern version. His paintings would not be possible without the skills he developed studying these masters, however he moves well beyond them.
Lovett is now an accomplished award winning oil painter exploring new territory and breaking new ground. Lovett paint's what he loves most in life with the hopes of enriching other's lives through his work.
