Barbara Jung
Barbara Jung is a versatile artist with experience in many visual fields. She is an interior decorator with her own firm. Inviting Interiors. She has won awards for her watercolors, photography, graphic and interior designs/art direction and theatrical set designs, used in television , opera and in community theater. Her paintings are innumerous private and corporate collections.
Always a painter, Barbara has enjoyed working in oil and acrylic, but her main passion is for the medium of watercolor. “To me painting is like music. Both has the quality to elevate the spirit.,” mused Barbara. “Wet on wet is one of my favorite approaches. It is so gloriously spontaneous and challenges me with delightful surprise.
Barbara attended Salve Regina University in Newport, RI and West Conn. University in Ct She holds a BS and Masters in English,, with minors in Art and Education.
Her at instruction has included studies with Cuggenheim instructions at Bard College and with recognized artists, Sterling Edward, CWSAP and AWS member, Frank Webb. She continues working with Betty Bee, Susan Duke and Susan Dade, established local artists. She is inspired by the works of Edgar Whitney, “The father of American Watercolor”, Charles Reid and Alex Powers.
A traveler, Barbara and her family had the good fortune to live for two years on the Mediterranean coast and to travel to many locations in Greece, North Africa, the Caribbean, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Canada and U.S. coast of California and the East Coastline. Her love of people, summer gardens, travel and the New England and Carolina seashores, naturally spills over into her watercolor compositions,.
Barbara relocated from Connecticut to Myrtle Beach area, where she resides with her husband, Ray Jung. She is a member of The Art Museum and Waterway Art Association in Brunswick County.
